Teaching and tutoring experience:
Ben taught at Rhyl Primary School in Camden for three years in Years 3 and 5 before moving to Brookfield Primary, where he taught Year 6 for three years while also serving as ICT Coordinator and a member of the Standards Committee. In 2013, he moved to Singapore to teach at United World College, spending five years in Year 6 as Curriculum Coordinator for nine classes and 200 children. Alongside his classroom teaching, Ben has tutored children aged 9–13 in Literacy and Maths, including targeted support for the 11+ entrance exams, helping students to build confidence and secure places at competitive schools.
Ben believes in building the child's confidence by celebrating their successes and helping them to understand the steps required to progress in the areas that they are targeting. Humour, so often overlooked, is essential here. Once a positive relationship is established, the child looks forward to learning and the teacher has a secure understanding of the next achievable goals, the child will thrive.
Additional information:
Ben is currently writing a young adult trilogy; reading and writing is his life. His love for literacy comes through in his teaching. While literacy would be his chosen subject to tutor, Ben has also enjoyed tutoring children in Maths.
