Teaching and tutoring experience
Kim has tutored a wide variety of students to GCSE level in Maths, Physics and French over the past two years, as well as teaching English as a second language in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. For her GCSE Maths students, Kim focused on various topics in greater depth, including equation solving, unit conversion and working through revision exercises from past papers to prepare students for their upcoming examinations. She was able to identify areas of weakness and planned weekly lessons aimed at developing her students’ skills, with weekly targets and homework set to consolidate learning. Whilst teaching abroad in Switzerland, Kim was responsible for planning an entire teaching curriculum, covering all aspects of her student’s syllabus. Kim also has experience teaching Maths at 11+, and has successfully guided students through their senior school entrance exams over the past year.
Kim believes that all tutees can learn when they are accepted for who and where they are in their educational journey. Understanding the needs and requirements of each tutee individually is key to a successful learning experience. She feels that as a tutor, it important to have a direct relationship with the tutee; a tutor is more than just a teacher. Learning is dynamic and adapted to each tutee. Effective learning requires a collaboration between tutor, student and parent grounded in mutual respect and trust.
Additional information
Kim has worked as the Lead Brand Ambassador at Campus Society London, leading a team of ambassadors at the University of Westminster. This role required assigning specific weekly tasks to each ambassador, as well as drafting weekly reports summarising team activities and meeting with various University Society Presidents to discuss Campus Society networking opportunities.
Kim is a film-maker and editor, with a great deal of knowledge and experience working with FinalCutPro and iMovie.
She is also a keen photographer, and is adept at using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe suite.
Kim is an experienced musician, with Grade 8 in Piano, and is a keen Jazz singer.
