How payment works at Pegasus Tutors

A quick, plain-English guide to how you'll be billed — this sits alongside our full Terms and Conditions, which remain the formal agreement between us.

The short version

When you book a tutor through Pegasus, each invoice covers two things:

  1. Your tutor's session fee — paid directly to them

  2. Our introduction fee — paid directly to us

Both are collected in a single payment through our booking platform, TutorCruncher, but they're split automatically and sent straight to the right place — your tutor's payment account and ours — at the same time. We never hold or pass on your tutor's fee ourselves.

Why we do it this way

Tutors who work with us are self-employed, not employed by Pegasus. Keeping payments separate like this is what makes that possible — it means you're paying your tutor directly for their time, and separately paying us for having found and vetted them for you. It's a bit like paying a freelancer directly, with an agency fee billed alongside it, rather than the agency being the one paying the freelancer.

What you'll see on your invoice

  • Tutor fee — your tutor's hourly rate, for the session(s) covered

  • Pegasus introduction fee — our commission, calculated as a percentage of the tutor fee

Both amounts are shown clearly, and VAT is added where applicable.

Payment terms

Invoices are due within 14 days. If a payment runs late, our formal terms allow us to apply interest on the outstanding portion of our own fee (not your tutor's fee) — full details are in our Terms and Conditions. If anything about an invoice looks off or you're having trouble paying on time, just get in touch — we're always happy to help sort it out.
