Teaching and tutoring experience:

I have over 100 hours of tutoring experience in science, maths, and university admissions for students age 11-18. I specialise in Biology (GCSE/A-level/university admissions), Chemistry (GCSE/A-level) and Oxbridge admissions (mock interviews, BMAT & personal statements for Biomedical Sciences and Medicine applicants).  I also have experience in volunteering with Oxfizz, supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds to make successful applications to top universities. 

Additionally, I have delivered an in-person admissions preparation course in Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the Ruthin School. Our programme supported 13 students in receiving offers from Oxbridge.

Teaching style and philosophy:

I aim to develop curiosity in the subjects that I teach, as I believe that students learn best when they are interested in a topic rather than being taught to memorise (although exam technique is important!) I plan my lessons to encourage students to apply their knowledge and skills to logically think through problems and be free to make mistakes, providing them the opportunity to actively use the information that is learnt to obtain a deeper understanding of the content. I believe that the ability to think through problems creatively and have a go are important for exams as well as their futures in further education and the workplace. 

Additional information:

I have worked for over 3.5 years in the UK Civil Service as a policy advisor in public health. I am currently pursuing a Master's in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and am based in West London. I mainly tutor online and can teach flexibly around my studies on weekdays and weekends. Outside of my studies, I am a big sports fan so am always playing tennis, padel, golf etc. - whatever is available!
