Teahing and tutoring experience:
Oundle Tutors, A-level Ancient History Tutor:
I helped teach the online A-level in ancient history, adapting lessons to support a student with ASD and OCD. We focused on essay writing skills and exam technique. The student progressed from below-average grades to consistently achieving full marks in essays.
Oakley Tutors, History, English, Geography, Religious Studies, Science and IT Tutor:
I homeschooled a seven year old student who refused to go to school. I established trust and adapted lesson plans to the pupil’s wider interests to create engagement while successfully delivering the curriculum.
Teaching style and philosophy:
As a student, I struggled at school. It was only when I was diagnosed with ADHD at university that I understood why. Teachers read from PowerPoint presentations, lessons felt slow, and the syllabus was rigid. I loved learning, but school was not the right environment for me. This experience shaped my teaching style: First, I adapt my methods to suit each student by understanding how they learn and what they want help with. Second, learning should be enjoyable;therefore, I endeavour to engage students by teaching lessons through their interests and aim to foster a love of learning. Third, I believe strongly in the policy that there are no stupid questions.
Additional information:
Last year, I launched an independent clothing brand called VESSEL, which connects art, fashion and social justice.
I've acted in plays throughout school and university, and I bring this experience to tutoring English, as performing a play is one of the best ways to understand it fully.
I am based in London and happy to teach across the city and online.
