Teaching style and philosophy:
As a tutor, I try to combine academic rigour with encouragement and clarity. I want students to become more confident thinkers. This means improving the structure of their arguments, reading critically, writing clearly, and approaching complex material independently.
The main thing I seek to engender in my students is enthusiasm;retention only comes when students care about the subject and understand the stakes involved. So I will usually spend the first few lessons tailoring my teaching to fit whatever the student is interested in about the topic. For instance, on a topic like civil rights in America, I might start with asking the student about the Kennedy assassination - as a way into his presidency and the more relevant issue of civil rights in America.

I have lectured at the University of Cambridge for the last 3 years, including assessing admissions.
I am based in London and willing to teach anywhere around there.
