Teaching and tutoring experience:

Georgina has privately tutored in Oxford and London over the past 10 years, working with 20+ different families and students from age 5 all the way up to 18 and undergraduate degree level.

At the primary age level, she has taught a wide range of subjects from English to Maths. Between GCSE and A Level, she specialises in humanities subjects, and at undergraduate level her focus is Fine Art and History of Art. She has helped students prepare portfolios for art scholarships and applications to the Courtauld and Oxbridge, having success with interview practice and personal statement drafting.

Having run regular art courses and workshops for primary school students between 2014 and 2019, she realised that students wanting to work as artists or in creative industries lacked support at higher levels of education and in preparing for the competitive job market. As a working artist but also with strong commercial experience in the art market, she also offers a unique and bespoke mentoring service for artists and young adults wanting to break into the industry.

Teaching style and philosophy:

I live by the philosophy that the student must be able to explain it back to you in their own words. A 1:1 tutorial should be a conversation. If the student is curious and asking questions, then you are inspiring independent thinking and personal interpretation which is crucial, especially with the rise of ai.

Anyone who has been through the education system knows that teachers can vary in their ability to effectively teach. For me, there are three key areas and qualities that can make all the difference:

1) strong subject knowledge and passion – a clear, confident understanding of the material and enthusiasm that inspires learning

2) clear communication and creativity – an ability to explain ideas in simple, accessible ways (which therefore requires organisation and structured lesson planning) and an ability to use engaging or innovative methods to explain difficult concepts

3) adaptability and empathy – an ability to adjust one's teaching style to suit different learners and one must have patience and emotional intelligence, and be able to listen, encourage and motivate

I live in London and can teach there in person or online further afield.

I am passionate about helping disadvantaged children. I have taught English in several parts of Kenya and volunteered at Mencap, a UK charity that supports young people with learning disabilities.

I setup and ran a Corporate Social Responsibility programme during my 6 years at a world-leading art advisory firm to help London Youth Groups access the top-end of the art market.

Working for the DSMT charity for 5 years, I met with the British Consulate in Jerusalem to discuss socio-political issues facing young Palestinian women. I mentored students in a Palestinian school and worked at fundraising events at the House of Commons in London.
