Scholarships

These days, scholarship examinations to the top schools in the country are, relative to the age of the student, quite possibly the most challenging examinations someone can sit, compared even to Finals at Oxford or Cambridge.

This said, they can also be the most interesting and rewarding to study towards - these exams are set by the most senior masters at the top schools in the country and as such they are not bound by the constraints of public examinations. They are designed to push the brightest students, challenge them and provide them the opportunity to show their utmost potential. As such, studying for these exams can be far more enjoyable and rewarding than revising for other exams at 13+ - for History, a student can research and study any periods of History that interest them most and draw parallels between them. For Maths and English, as well as plenty of other subjects, students are likely to push beyond the GCSE syllabus and towards the A-Level syllabuses, which allied with a positive and motivated mindset can allow bright students to really thrive in their final year of prep school, rather than going through the motions of CE revision.
