YOUNGER YEARS

Although extensive tutoring at a young age is often excessive and unnecessary, there are many areas in which guidance under the wing of a specialist younger years teacher can be truly beneficial and rewarding.

Whether a student needs help with phonics or cursive handwriting, their early reading or an introduction to number and mathematical concepts, the key at this age is to keep students stimulated and engaged. As teachers of this age group know, what is important is to include an element of “educational play”, whether this be developing maths lesson plans around the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or English lessons inspired by Dr Seuss.

It is even more important at such a young age to recognise that students develop in very different ways - some are visual learners, some auditory, others kinesthetic and yet others spatial. It is a vital component of their initial lessons that a qualified teacher assess the strengths, weaknesses and learning style of their student and adapt their lesson plans accordingly, all the while ensuring that lessons are fun and engaging so that students can really look forward to them and cement a love of learning at such a formative age.

Whatever your requirements for early years tuition, please don’t hesitate to get in touch - our younger years specialists are here to help!
